Dr Simon Snowden
University of Liverpool, Oil Impact Depletion Group
Simon Snowden is a leading member of the Oil Depletion Impact Group, based at the University of Liverpool’s Management School. The group exists to understand potential impact scenarios caused by depletion of global oil reserves. It is the only group of its kind in the UK and unique in the different fields represented – it is made up of political scientists, geographers, management scientists, geologists and other social scientists. Economic modelling work aims to assess the impact of a whole raft of potential price behaviour scenarios which could come about when peak oil is reached and demand outstrips supply. The group wants to understand which areas of our lives are vulnerable as well as the impact on the country as a whole.
